ST BENILDUS College finished their Dublin Schools Juvenile ‘A’ Hurling Championship group campaign on a high with a comprehensive 3-16 to 2-5 triumph against St Aidan’s CBS on Tuesday.

Following earlier defeats to Ardscoil Ris and St Fintan’s HS, Sutton, the Kilmacud side can now enter the knockout stages of the competition in fine spirits.

Thanks to the scoring prowess of Finn Walsh and Senan Phelan, they brought a 2-11 to 0-1 cushion into the interval.

Even though Benildus were aided by a strong breeze, defensive lynchpins Harry O’Brien and Matthew Gardner ensured the southsiders remained in the driving seat throughout the opening period.

Aidan’s were much-improved after the resumption and managed to cut into their sizeable deficit.

Nevertheless, with Louis Noonan clipping in some excellent scores, St Benildus ultimately emerged as 14-point winners.

As a result of consecutive successes at the expense of Lucan CBS, Salesian College and Coláiste Éanna, Terenure College will face Castleknock Community College in the semi-final of the Dublin Schools Juvenile ‘B’ Hurling Championship.
