SKERRIES HARPS 1-10

THE excellent Brendan Gallagher bagged a superb haul of 2-9 at Garristown last night to give Lucan Sarsfields a 10-point victory over Skerries Harps in Group Two of the Dublin Senior Football Championship One.
Despite leaking a brace of early scores to their northside opponents, Lucan found their feet through a Brian Collopy goal on 11 minutes. This heralded a dominant period for the 12th Lock men as Gallagher registered four points in quick succession.
Donal Smith was also on target for Lucan, before Skerries fired back with a purple patch of their own. Collie Daly, Kevin Gilmore and Mark Boylan claimed two points apiece over the course of the hour and were instrumental during this juncture.
Nevertheless, Dublin senior star Darren Gavin and the in-form Gallagher ensured Lucan were 1-8 to 0-5 in front at the interval. Collopy, Gallagher and Smith continued to impress on the resumption, but Skerries received a lifeline on the third-quarter mark when substitute Ciaran Murphy fired beyond the reach of Mark Gibbons.
Lucan remained in control of their own destiny, however, and the outstanding Gallagher (a regular fixture at the fulcrum of the Leitrim attack in recent seasons) placed the tie beyond all doubt with a brace of goals in the closing stages of the action.
