LORETO Beaufort capped a memorable fortnight for camogie in their school last Friday when they claimed another double at Clanna Gael Fontenoy GAA.

Fresh from their successes in the Senior ‘A’ and Senior ‘C’ shields seven days earlier, Loreto were also victorious in the Junior ‘A’ Championship and Junior ‘C’ shield.

They opened up an early six-point advantage in the senior final against Our Lady’s, with Ciara Murphy, Olivia Meagher and Hollyn Kennedy all producing fine displays for Beaufort.

The latter fired home a well-worked goal, and following additional goals by Belen Swords, Murphy and Erica Tobin, seven points separated the sides (4-7 to 3-3) at the end of the action.

Loreto’s day had begun with a ‘C’ Shield outing with Old Bawn CS, but although Clodagh McCahey registered a first-half goal, Beaufort nevertheless found themselves facing into a 0-6 to 1-0 deficit at the break.

Yet, with a strong wind at their disposal, decisive scores from Lucia O’Connor, Hannah Mulholland and Katie Qunlivan helped Loreto to squeeze over the line with a 1-5 to 0-6 triumph.
