CLONKEEN College will face Malahide CS in the Dublin Schools’ Senior ‘B’ Gaelic football decider, after both sides were successful in their semi-final encounters on Tuesday afternoon.
Clonkeen secured the Senior ‘C’ title last year and can now aim to follow that up at this grade.
thanks to the scoring prowess of centre-forward Cormac Quinn, they developed a strong advantage over Salesian College in Celbridge this week.
Jim Kennedy claimed a goal for the Deansgrange outfit during a dominant first-half display, and courtesy of additional goals from Quinn and Sean McDonald after the break, they secured a convincing 3-8 to 0-5 triumph.
They can now look forward to an upcoming meeting with Malahide -who recorded a 3-10 to 1-11 win at the expense of St Kevin’s CBS at Pairc Ciceam.
David Aston’s side were facing into a four-point interval deficit, but with Aaron Lynch and Daniel Brennan in fine form, they stayed within touching distance of their Ballygall counterparts.
Kevin’s did occasionally threaten to place the tie beyond Malahide’s reach, but with Brennan and Daniel Denneher contributing vital scores, it was the Broomfield boys who ultimately finished with five points to spare.
