LEINSTER SH ‘A’ LEAGUE FINAL
Currie and Gray lead way to title
ST KIERAN’S………………………………… 4-12
DUBLIN NORTH……………………………. 1-13

THEY had a number of fine performers on the day, but in Fenagh, Co Carlow yesterday afternoon, Dublin North came off second best to St Kieran’s College in the Leinster SH ‘A’ League Final.
North had booked their place in this decider by overcoming another Noreside opponent – Kilkenny CBS – but following well-worked goals by Michael Cody and Edmund Delaney, they were facing into a 2-9 to 0-7 deficit at the start of the second period.
They left the Metropolitans with an uphill task after the restart, but with midfielder Daire Gray finding the back of the Kieran’s net from a 21-metre free, they forced their way back into the reckoning. Gray contributed 1-3 over the course of the action, and Colin Currie finished with 0-6 to his name.
Johnny McGuirk Jr, Conor Burke and Siofra Fitzgerald also added their names to the scoresheet, but Kieran’s ultimately finished with eight points to spare. This was a frustrating conclusion to the league for Dublin North, but with a Championship outing to come against Antrim Schools on January 9, it has proven to be a productive campaign overall.
