JHC ROUND-UP

Sharp O’Brien shooting sees Confey home

CONFEY COLLEGE will face Hartstown CS in the semi-final of the Dublin Schools JHC ‘D’ competition, following their comprehensive 2-18 to 0-3 victory against Donahies CS last Friday.

The dead-ball accuracy of Oisin O’Brien helped Confey to develop a 0-10 to 0-1 half-time buffer.

This placed the north Kildare outfit in a strong position, and a 1-5 salvo in the second period by Eoin Gately – as well as a Sean O’Reilly three-pointer – ensured their safe passage to the penultimate round.

Elsewhere, in the Junior Hurling ‘D’ Championship quarter-final, Malahide CS edged a tense affair with Scoil Chaitriona.

Two goals from Luke Hughes created daylight between the teams, and although their Mobhi Road counterparts displayed a keen eye for goal, a late major by Liam Shalloe guided Malahide towards a 3-11 to 4-6 success.
