Dublin Schools Senior Hurling ‘B’ Championship Round-Up: The Evening Herald – October 8 2015

GAELIC GAMES: DUBLIN SHC ‘B’

‘Nure progress in real style

TERENURE College will join St Colmcille’s CS in the knockout stages of the Dublin Schools SH ‘B’ Championship, after they recorded an emphatic 6-24 to 0-2 victory over Oatlands College on Monday afternoon.
Following their narrow Roinn 2 defeat to Colmcille’s last Friday week, Terenure needed to overcome Oatlands in order to book their place in the semi-finals of the competition – at the expense of local rivals Templeogue College.
Terenure secured the Senior ‘C’ crown against Oatlands last November, and with a number of players remaining from last year’s squad, they were always confident of making progress. Ciaran Flanagan, Philip Jordan and Mark McGee registered 1-5 apiece in ‘Nure’s latest success over the Mount Merrion school, and with Kevin Desmond also contributing an impressive salvo of 2-5, the Terenure attack was performing at its optimum level.
There were also fine performances by Eoin Gilroy, Kevin Cronin, Sam O’Leary, David Croke and Tommy Deane, which bodes well for ‘Nure’s upcoming encounter.
It remains to be seen who they will face in the penultimate round, though, as tomorrow’s clash between Salesian College and St Declan’s CBS will decide who finishes in first and second spot in Roinn 1. The north Kildare school have already recorded triumphs over Scoil Chaitriona and Castleknock Communuty School, but Declan’s have also impressed in games against the same opposition.
