Mixed results for U15s
dublin u15 hurlers
The Dublin U15 hurlers had mixed fortunes in their Cross Provincial Blitz on Saturday in Portmarnock, where they had two teams in action on a busy day in Naomh Mearnóg.
In Group Four, a Sky Blues selection faced Wexford, Waterford and Antrim, while in Group Five at the same venue, Dublin also fielded a squad for clashes with Wexford and Waterford.
Dublin made a winning start to Group Four against a well-prepared Wexford outfit (2-14 to 1-11), with Craig Berrigan, Conor Berrigan and John Sammon providing plenty of attacking power.
They also defeated Antrim in their second game of the day, before Waterford eventually got the better of them in their final Blitz outing.
Willie Bourke’s side had just two games to play in Group Five, and in their encounter with Wexford, they emerged with a share of the spoils. Seán Kinsella of Kilmacud Crokes was a strong performer in this game, and he was ably-assisted by Cuala’s Liam Murphy – who finished this encounter with a personal tally of 2-3.
They also subsequently suffered a loss at the hands of Waterford, but ahead of their Leinster Hurling Tournament in August, the resources of the U15 panel have been firmly tested.
