UCD 38 Lansdowne 31
A strong final-quarter charge helped UCD towards a surprise victory at Belfield yesterday, but with two points garnered from the contest, Lansdowne extended their lead at the summit of the table to eight points.
Lansdowne had started promisingly with a Brian Moylett try, but UCD kicked into gear with unanswered five-ponters by Bobby Holland, Adam Byrne and Sam Coghlan Murray. However, the visitors ultimately led 24-15 at the midway point courtesy of tries from Ian Fitzpatrick and Tom Farrell.
UCD reduced their deficit to two with a well-worked score, but Lansdowne looked set for their 12th triumph of the campaign when they were awarded a penalty try. The Students had other ideas, however, with Ireland U20 star Joey Carberry contributing two tries from the bench.
