Sharpshooter Damien Casey rescues Tyrone from Fingal
Tyrone 1-16 Fingal 1-15
INJURY-TIME points from Damian Casey and Conor Groganproved crucial at St David’s, where 14-man Tyrone held the edge over Fingal.
The 54th-minute dismissal of Shea McKiver had seemingly handed the initiative to the hosts, but despite falling behind to a late Paul Graves point, Tyrone rallied to secure a last-gasp triumph.
Fingal had made a bright start to the proceedings, but thanks to Gerard Gilmore’s 29th-minute goal, Tyrone found themselves 1-6 to 0-8 in front at the break.
A resolute Fingal opened up a four-point cushion with a terrific O’Connor goal 20 minutes from time, but with Casey contributing a personal tally of 0-11, Tyrone emerged victorious in dramatic fashion.
