Mannion the main man for Kilmacud
Kilmacud Crokes 1-6 St Sylvester’s 0-6: A CONTRIBUTION of 1-2 from full-forward Paul Mannion proved pivotal in Parnell Park last night, as Kilmacud Crokes edged out St Sylvester’s in a low-scoring Dublin SFC quarter-final. In awful weather conditions, the sides were tied at 0-3 each at the interval.
Sylvester’s points came from an early free from Michael McCarthy, Conor Daly and Nigel Dunne while Mark Vaughan (free and a ‘45’) and Mannion registered for Kilmacud. Teenager Mannion fired the crucial goal on 36 minutes and added a point but a second McCarthy free with 12 minutes to go reduced the margin to three again before late points from Vaughan and Craig Dias sealed the victory.
