GAELIC GAMES: LEINSTER SH ‘A’ SEMIS
Colaiste Eoin reach decider but North boys fall well short

THERE were mixed fortunes for Dublin sides in the Leinster Schools Senior ‘A’ Hurling Championship semi-finals over the past week.
While Coláiste Eoin edged out Kilkenny CBS at Bunclody last Sunday (1-14 to 1-13), Dublin North relinquished their Corn Ui Dhuill crown to an impressive St Kieran’s College yesterday afternoon. With Séamus Ó Fiachna, Conall Ó Tuaithail, Odhran Mac Gearailt and Darach Mac Giolla Bhride all on target, a rampant Coláiste Eoin were 0-12 to 1-5 to the good at the midway point of their meeting with CBS.
An Oisin Morrissey goal had kept the Marble County outfit in touch and the reliable Billy Drennan edged them in front late on.
However, a determined Eoin responded with a clinical Pádhraic Ó Luineacháin goal to book their spot in the forthcoming final.
North claimed the top-tier Leinster title at the expense of Kieran’s 12 months ago, but were second best to the Noreside giants at the LOETB Training Centre in Laois. Despite being 1-4 to 0-4 adrift on the first-quarter mark, the defending All-Ireland champions had all of 15 points to spare (2-22 to 1-10) over Paul O’Brien’s side.
