Blackrock College will face St Mary’s College in the Leinster Schools Junior Cup decider. They defeated Castleknock College in yesterday’s semi-final in Donnybrook.
‘Rock had defeated 2017 champions, St Michael’s College and St Gerard’s, Bray, en route to the last-four and are now seeking their 51st title at this grade.
Following a neat off-load by centre Tom Henderson in the ninth-minute, Jude O’Reilly crossed over for a deadlock-breaking score. Out-half Michael Moloney added the bonuses, before increasing his side’s advantage to 10 points with a routine penalty on the stroke of half-time.
Castleknock lost influential lock, Senan Forker, to a yellow card, at the end of the third quarter.
Rock exploited their numerical supremacy with a maul try from prop David Walsh.
Castleknock claimed a deserved consolation try through replacement winger Oisin Tierney, but Blackrock march on to Wednesday’s final in the same venue.
