An impressive 21-point haul from Dylan O’Grady helped Belvedere College to defeat Catholic University School (CUS) in the opening round of the Leinster Schools Junior Cup at Donnybrook yesterday.
The 17-time champions opened the scoring with a superb individual try from Finn McCarrick, which was followed by O’Grady’s impressive finishes in the 14th and 23rd minutes.
CUS finally opened their account with a converted effort by prop Callum Clinton, which reduced their deficit to 12 points (19-7) in time for the interval.
The Leeson Street school persisted with their challenge on the resumption, before O’Grady claimed his hat-trick of tries on 49 minutes.
Loosehead Jonathan Sargent also crossed over in the latter stages of the contest, as Belvedere comfortably progressed to the next phase.
