GAELIC GAMES
LONGFORD will face Wicklow in tomorrow afternoon’s Kehoe Cup decider, after they secured a five-point victory over DCU/St Patrick’s at UCD.
A fortuitous Rueben Murray goal edged the county side in front on the 20-minute mark. Fine contributions from Aodhan Foley, Dean Whelan, Martin Og Storey and Diarmuid Fenlon kept DCU on level terms at the break (1-6 to 0-9), before Murray and John Mulhern found the net for Longford.
DCU gave themselves a chance when Michael Begley fired past Conor Gallagher in the 47th-minute, but a magnificent Daire Duggan three-pointer put Longford into an unassailable lead prior to Storey’s last-gasp consolation goal.
