GAELIC GAMES: DUBLIN JUNIOR ‘A’ & SENIOR ‘B’ HURLING

Sheridan goal guides Ardscoil Ris to victory

IT was a good week for Ardscoil Ris and Colaiste Eoin in the Dublin Junior ‘A’ Hurling Championship, following their respective wins over St Fintan’s HS and St Colmcille’s CS.

Ardscoil made the journey to Sutton on Tuesday to face Fintan’s, and impressive scoring returns from Conor Kelly (0-4) and Rory Finn (0-3) ensured they were generally in the driving seat. They came under pressure against the breeze in the second-half of the tie, but a Conor Sheridan goal ultimately guided them towards a 1-12 to 0-10 triumph.

Eoin began their campaign with a victory against Colaiste Eanna two weeks ago, and they also had 11 points to spare (5-10 to 2-9) over Colmcille’s on Monday afternoon.

Conor de Poire (two) and Dara Puirséil registered three-pointers for the gaelscoil, who will be aiming to avenge their final defeat to St Aidan’s from last February.

Elsewhere, St Declan’s recorded a win at the expense of Malahide CS in Roinn Two of the Dublin Senior ‘B’ Hurling Championship on September 19, and Terenure College will kick-start their Roinn One campaign in the same grade today at home to St Colmcille’s.
