DUBLIN SCHOOLS JUVENILE ‘B’ HURLING SEMI-FINAL

FOLLOWING their 2-15 to 2-5 success against Lucan CBS on Monday afternoon, St Benildus College will compete in the upcoming Dublin Schools Juvenile ‘B’ Hurling Championship showpiece, writes Daire Walsh.
The Kilmacud outfit finished runners-up to Colaiste Eoin in last year’s ‘A’ decider, but at the end of an opening stage that featured three groups of four teams each, the schools were separated into ‘A’ and ‘B’ knockout rounds in 2017.
Benildus found themselves in the latter, but with Brian Keogh and Dylan Walsh providing a constant threat, they were well in contention playing against a strong breeze on their home pitch. Keogh helped Dublin South to seal the Leinster Juvenile ‘A’ League title four days earlier, and his dead-ball accuracy was crucial in this encounter.
Lucan did bring a 2-4 to 0-6 advantage into the break, but courtesy of a 1-1 salvo by Keogh at the start of the second-half, the hosts assumed control of the proceedings.
Walsh also found the Lucan net to bring his final tally up to 1-2 as St Benildus (coached by Kilkenny hurler Walter Walsh) booked their place in the final alongside Castleknock CC.
