Eoin book place in Leinster semi-final

FOLLOWING their 2-9 to 1-5 success against Castlecomer CS last Friday, Colaiste Eoin have qualified for the semi-final stage of the Leinster Schools Juvenile Hurling ‘A1’ League.

The gaelscoil had opened their campaign with a commanding 2-15 to 1-5 victory over Terenure College, and they were aiming to maintain their 100pc winning record against their Noreside counterparts.

They did take a while to settle into this contest, but with Cillian Ó Sé, Breandán O Chonaill and Jack Ó Rodaigh producing strong defensive performances, the Castlecomer forward line were kept at bay on a number of occasions.

Indeed, courtesy of a hard-earned goal, Eoin developed a slender 1-4 to 0-3 cushion at the midway point, and they pushed on significantly after the resumption.

Seamus Tóibín was a constant threat for the Castlecomer rearguard, and thanks to a second goal by Liam Ó Fiachna, the Booterstown created serious daylight between themselves and the Kilkenny outfit. Castlecomer remained in contention for much of the second-half, but with a high level of work-rate and endeavour, Eoin deservedly booked their place in the last-four.
