LORETO Beaufort, Rathfarnham rose to the occasion in Ringsend last Friday as they secured an impressive Senior ‘A’ & Senior ‘C’ Camogie Shield double.

Dublin minor star Eimear O’Leary spearheaded the south Dublin school’s charge in the ‘A’ decider, and with Alex O’Connor, Olivia Meagher and Eimear Butler also making strong scoring contributions, Beaufort recorded a commanding 6-16 to 0-4 victory over Maryfield College.

It was a much closer encounter in the ‘C’ showpiece, though, where Tallaght school Old Bawn proved to be stern opponents for the Dublin 14 outfit. However, with a 1-2 haul at the start of the second half by Hannah Mulholland being supplemented by a subsequent goal from Sarah Leach, Loreto had six points to spare (5-3 to 3-3) in an entertaining outing.

Meanwhile, goals from Orlaith Martin and Aine Purtill’klak were decisive for Loreto, Stephen’s Green – who claimed a 2-6 to 1-7 triumph against Scoil Dara, Kilcock in the ‘B’ Shield final.

There was little to separate the sides throughout this contest, but with Carolyn McCarthy also contributed an exceptional tally of 0-5, the city centre school edged a tense battle.
