GAELIC F’BALL: TOM QUINLAN PLATE

LE CHEILE Secondary School will contest the Tom Quinlan Plate decider this afternoon, following their semi-final win against Deansrath Community College last Friday.
Despite being relative newcomers to this level of competition, the Tyrrelstown side were buoyed by a strong support from the school’s first year students. Captain James Downey exerted a major influence on the proceedings, and thanks to some excellent scores by recent Dublin trialist Adam Tully and Paddy Cleary, Le Cheile eventually emerged victorious on a scoreline of 6-5 to 2-1.
However, it was a strong team effort on the day from Michelle Muldoon’s charges (who have a number of players from St Peregrine’s GAA, as well as the local Tyrrelstown club), and although the U14 league is on the horizon for Le Cheile, they will be preparing to do battle with Marian College of Ballsbridge in Alfie Byrne Park at 1.30pm today.
