DUBLIN SEN ‘C1’ HURLING

Lombard hits high score for Lucan CC

EVAN Lombard recorded an outstanding haul of 6-2 at Arthur Griffith Park on Thursday afternoon when Lucan CC claimed a comprehensive triumph against Firhouse CC in the quarter-final of the Dublin Senior ‘C1’ Hurling Championship.

Lucan advanced to this stage courtesy of a three-point win over Skerries CC in the previous round, but when Lombard found the back of the net with just two minutes gone on the clock, they firmly set out their stall in this last-eight encounter. Lombard was a stand-out performer for his side on the day, but with Luke Murphy and Ben Mullins  raising green flags, the Lucan attack was in fine form throughout.

Rory Stapleton (0-4) and Cillian Boylan (0-2) also made strong contributions, and although a youthful Firhouse displayed an impressive fighting spirit, Lucan CC sealed a 8-10 to 0-5 success.

Their opponents in the upcoming semi-final will be Hartstown CS, who registered a 10-11 to 3-5 win against St Joseph’s CBS on Monday.
