ARDSCOIL Ris’ quest to defend their Dublin Schools’ Senior ‘A’ Hurling title continued at Pairc Naomh Uinsionn last Thursday afternoon, when they secured a commanding Roinn 1 triumph over Terenure College.
With 2016 minor Sean Currie in fine form, the Griffith Avenue school controlled the tempo of the play during the opening period at St Vincent’s GAA.
With Luke McDwyer leading from the front, Terenure performed admirably after the restart, but Ardscoil ultimately booked their place in the semi-final of this competition with a 1-20 to 1-4 success.
This was Ardscoil’s second win of the group, but in spite of this loss, Terenure (who are playing at the Senior ‘A’ level for the very first time) have also advanced to the knock-out stages courtesy of an earlier victory against St Aidan’s CBS.
McDwyer contributed 0-4 from midfield in this game, and in addition to an outstanding 0-8 haul by Philip Jordan, two points piece from David Croke and Kevin Desmond helped Terenure to claim a 0-20 to 2-12 win.
As a result, they will now face Colaiste Eanna in the competition’s quarter-final, at Terenure College, next Tuesday. Joining Ardscoil as automatic qualifiers for the last-four are Colaiste Eoin, who finished off Roinn 2 with an accomplished 0-19 to 0-12 triumph over St Benildus College last Wednesday week.
