ARDSCOIL Ris will contest this year’s Tom Quinlan Cup final, following their 8-9 to 3-8 win over St Benildus College last Thursday afternoon.
The Griffith Avenue boys contested the 2015 decider, and they will now face 2014 winners Colaiste Eoin in a mouth-watering showpiece clash.
With home advantage on their side (and a quarter-final triumph against Malahide CS under their belt), Benildus were hoping to make a big impact in this fixture. However, it was Ardscoil who dominated the early exchanges, and a brace of early goals placed them in the ascendancy. Benildus had some good moments in the attack during the opening half, but with Conor Kelly and Conor Baldwin leading by example, Ardscoil were in the driving seat as the half-time whistle sounded.
Kelly and Baldwin finished the game with two goals apiece, while James Hynes (1-4) and Ben Kane (1-2) also made strong scoring contributions.
Conor Davis, Matthew Howard, Colin Sweeney and Conor English also impressed in defence for the Northside school, and with goalkeeper Adam Mourad producing some fine saves at crucial junctures, Ardscoil Ris ultimately had a commanding 16 points to spare.
