Quinn leads Joseph’s to Minor glory

CAPTAIN Laura Quinn was the star performer on Monday at Good Counsel GAA, where St Joseph’s College, Lucan were crowned Dublin Minor ‘A’ Schools Camogie champions with a 3-8 to 1-3 success against Our Lady’s, Terenure.

Joseph’s had suffered five final defeats at this grade, and although they made an excellent start with a goal from Emma Morris, Our Lady’s quickly responded with points by Sinead Hussey and Amber Finnegan.

Yet, the Lucan girls were playing with great confidence, and a 1-1 salvo from Caoimhe Morris helped them to establish a seven-point cushion during the interval.

Indeed, Joseph’s enhanced their superiority with two points from the excellent Quinn after the restart, before Our Lady’s replied with an outstanding Jennifer Harrahan goal.

Joseph’s never allowed panic to creep into their play, and a 1-2 haul from Quinn in the closing moments ensured that they claimed the silverware on offer.

Meanwhile, on the same day in Good Counsel, Castleknock CC and Mount Sackville secured the Minor B & Minor C titles with respective final triumphs over St Mary’s, Naas and Loreto Crumlin.
