Skerries reach final frontier

SKERRIES CC have qualified for the Dublin Schools’ JF ‘C’ Championship decider, after they held off a spirited second-half fightback from Scoil Chaitriona in a lively semi-final encounter last Friday.

They will now face St Colmcille’s CS in the competition’s showpiece fixture, which will take place in St Brigid’s GAA next Wednesday. Playing in the local Skerries Harps club, the Balbriggan Road outfit had the aid of a strong wind in the opening period.

Patrick Finn, Fionnan O’Sullivan, Adam Fearon and Ciaran Murphy were all in fine form for Skerries, who held a 3-10 to 0-4 interval advantage.

This left Chaitriona with a mountain to climb after the restart, and even though the Mobhi Road side displayed admirable battling qualities, it was Skerries who eventually emerged victorious on a scoreline of 3-14 to 1-12.
