CLONKEEN College had a day to remember at O’Toole Park on Tuesday afternoon, when two goals apiece from Eoin Kennedy and Jamie Broderick helped them to secure the Dublin Schools’ SF ‘C’ Championship at the expense of Lucan CBS.

The Blackrock school were placed under pressure during certain junctures in the opening period, but with netminder Oscar Puszcz in excellent form, they kept their Roselawn counterparts at bay.

Half-back Kevin Gannon and midfielder Ronan Hayes were also prominent, and thanks to the goal-scoring prowess of Kennedy and Broderick, they brought a 3-4 to 0-2 lead into the second-half.

Indeed, with the outstanding Hayes also finding the back of the Lucan net after the restart, they eased their way towards a magnificent 5-8 to 0-7 success. Centre-forward Cormac Quinn (0-4) and Sean McDonald (0-2) also made sizeable contributions for Clonkeen – who will face Dunshaughlin CS in a Leinster decider this coming Tuesday.

Meanwhile, there was also joy for GC Reachrann on Tuesday, as they recorded a 13-point triumph (5-12 to 3-5) over St Joseph’s, Rush in the Schools’ SF ‘D’ showpiece at the DCU Sportsgrounds.
