LEINSTER SCHOOLS JUVENILE HURLING ‘A’ LEAGUE
Swan flies as North and South both start well

DUBLIN North and Dublin South made encouraging starts to their Leinster Juvenile Hurling ‘A’ League campaigns last Friday, when they secured victories over Kilkenny CBS and St Peter’s, Wexford respectively.
North faced a tricky away assignment in the Noreside county, but with defensive lynchpins Fionn Rock and Conor Chalk in fine form, they kept a tight rein on the Kilkenny attack. Indeed, thanks to a brace of goals from Castleknock’s Luke Swan, the Metropolitans were in front at the midway point.
Upon the resumption, Swan increased his own personal tally to 2-2, and they also had lively contributions from Kevin Byrne and Darragh McLoughney in a 3-6 to 2-4 success.
It was also a positive day for Cian Waldron’s South selection, and with the excellent Matthew Dunne registering an outstanding haul of 2-7, they were always on step ahead of Peter’s.
Darragh Purcell, Kevin Lavin, Darragh McBride and St Benildus star Aaron O’Toole amassed impressive scoring returns, and even though their Slaneyside opponents displayed admirable battling qualities, they ultimately couldn’t match the intensity of their capital counterparts.
