Airtricity Premier Division: Bray Wanderers V Derry City – The Irish Daily Star – March 10 2012

DERRY EASE TO VICTORY

Bray Wanderers 0 Derry City 4

FIRST-HALF goals from Stewart Greacen, David McDaid and Rory Patterson helped Derry City make it two wins from two against a Bray Wanderers outfit who were reduced to 10 men in controversial circumstances.

The Candystripes were high on confidence heading into their encounter with Pat Devlin’s depleted side at the Carlisle Grounds having beaten Bohs last week.

It seemed like only a matter of time before Declan Devine’s charges would take the lead, and it was left to centre-half Greacen to break Bray’s resistance after 20 minutes, as he headed to the net from a Simon Madden set-piece.

Bray had a shout for a penalty turned down when Greacen appeared to handle a Jason Byrne cross.

Match referee Anthony Buttimer turned away the Bray appeals and to rub salt into the wounds Derry keeper Gerard Doherty’s long ball found McDaid and he got the second with a deft chip.

Things got worse for the hosts six minutes later when Quigley was sent off after Patterson was upended in the area.

It actually looked like it was defender Pierce Sweeney who committed the foul but Quigley was dismissed.

Patterson coolly slotted his spot-kick past Brian Kane, the deputy between the sticks for Bray.

This effectively killed off the game, and Derry got a fourth on 67 minutes, as Patterson turned Dane Massey, before stroking home sweetly.
