MICHELLE Ní Chiardha and Hannah Ní Dheá produced strong performances at Dunganny on Tuesday as Colaiste Iosagáin secured the Ladies Leinster Senior PPS Football ‘A’ title with a 2-19 to 0-4 win over Eureka Secondary School, Kells.
Scores from Niamh Ní Shíocháin, Hannah Ní Dheá (two) and Michelle Ní Chiardha helped the Stillorgan girls to develop an early three-point advantage (0-4 to 0-1), but a brace of efforts from Eureka duo Clara Lynch and Seana Lynch meant that the sides were level after 12 minutes.
Yet, courtesy of subsequent points by Laura Ní Chatháin, Niamh Ní Shíocháin, Michelle Ní Chiardha (three), Ní Dheá and Grace Ní Shé, Iosagain held a commanding seven-point interval cushion (0-11 to 0-4).
Momentum was certainly with the south Dubliners when the play re-started, and when points from Ní Shé (two), Michelle Ní Chiardha and Niamh Ní Chiardha were followed by a clinical Ní Shíocháin goal, the tie was placed beyond the reach of Eureka.
It was now a damage limitation exercise for their Meath counterparts, but thanks to a 1-1 Ní Dheá salvo, Iosagain sealed provincial honours in devastating fashion.
