LEINSTER SF ‘A’ C’SHIP
Fintan’s defeated by impressive Pat’s Navan

EOIN Finnegan and Conor Nash were in excellent form for St Patrick’s Navan at Pairc Tailteann last Friday afternoon, as the impressive Meath outfit recorded a comprehensive 5-17 to 2-2 victory over St Fintan’s HS, Sutton in the opening round of the Leinster SF ‘A’ Championship.
With ten titles to their name at this grade, Pat’s were always going to be formidable opponents for the north Dublin school.
However, Fintan’s produced a determined performance in their agonising extra-time defeat to Patrician of Newbridge at the same stage last year, and included inter-county minor Brian Howard at centre-back for this encounter.
Pat’s dominated the proceedings from a very early point in the contest, though, and courtesy of goals from Finnegan and Cian O’Reilly, they developed a 2-7 to 0-1 interval advantage. Fintan’s made a valiant effort to force their way back into the reckoning after the restart, and midfielder Kevin Doran did secure two goals for the visitors.
Yet, the Pat’s attack continued to flourish, and following subsequent three-pointers by Eanna Mooney, Nash and Paddy Carpenter, they advanced to the next round in considerable style.
