Two goals in the space of six second-half minutes by Robbie Creevy was the highlight at Dalymount Park last night, as Bohemians progressed to the next round of the FAI Cup.

Two-time cup winner Jason Byrne had broken the deadlock for Bohs just before the half-hour mark after his initial strike had rebounded off the crossbar, but Leinster Senior League outfit Firhouse received a timely boost in the closing stages of the half.

First round hero Carl Wynne was hauled down inside the area by Gypsies centre-half Stephen Best, and from the resulting spot-kick, Luke Synnott shot past Dean Delany.

This strong response by Firhouse raised the possibility of a major upset, but just nine minutes after the restart, Bohs regained the ascendancy.

Following brilliant link-up play with O’Brien, Robbie Creevy unleashed an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner of the Firhouse goal, and the former UCD midfielder doubled his account on the hour mark when he poked home a pin-point Roberto Lopes cross from the right-flank.

This effectively placed the final outcome beyond any doubt, and on the stroke of 80 minutes, the alert Kealan Dillon completed an impressive second-half showing from the top-flight side by finishing off a goalmouth scramble.
