Anglesea Road Old Belvedere 18 (J Glynn 6 pens) Terenure College 8 (S O’Neill try, J Thornton con)
JOSH GLYNN was once again in fine form at Anglesea Road, but despite securing an impressive victory over second-place Terenure College, Old Belvedere were ultimately denied a place in the league semi-finals courtesy of Young Munster’s triumph over Lansdowne. Four penalties from the reliable Glynn boosted Belvo’s prospects during the opening period, and even though ‘Nure responded with a Stephen O’Neill try, the hosts led 12-5 at the break.
Terenure had already booked their place in the play-offs, but after James Thornton cancelled out a fifth Glynn place-kick, they remained in contention. A final three-pointer from the excellent Glynn helped Belvo towards a ten-point success, but it was only enough to seal a fifth-place finish in the top-flight.
