GAELIC GAMES: LEINSTER JUV ‘A’ HL
Excellent second-half show paves way for Dublin South
A STRONG second-half display proved essential for Dublin South in Wexford on Friday afternoon, when they had ten points to spare (1-15 to 0-8) over Good Counsel, New Ross in the Leinster Juvenile Hurling ‘A’ League.
Having already recorded a comprehensive victory over Mountrath CS, Dublin South were in a confident mood, and thanks to an excellent goal by Darrach McBride, they led by four points (1-7 to 0-6) during the interval.
However, Good Counsel had wind advantage when the action resumed, and as Cian Waldron’s charges attempted to adjust, Tom Ahern transferred from centre-back to midfield in a direct swap with Jacques Dalton.
This move paid major dividends, and after Kilmacud Crokes’ ace Sean Kinsella contributed three unanswered points at the start of the half, South dominated the remainder of the contest.
Kinsella and Padraig Pursell amassed a combined tally of 0-11, and with full-forward Cian McDaid also prominent throughout, Dublin South can now look forward to a top-of-the-table clash against Kilkenny CBS in high spirits.
