gaelic games: Leinster SF ‘B’ Final
There was disappointment for Coláiste éanna in Bray on Saturday, as the Ballyroan side were on the receiving end of a 2-16 to 1-8 reversal against Carlow CBS in the Leinster SF ‘B’ decider.
This provincial showpiece came just eight days after Eanna’s county final success over St Declan’s, Cabra, but the southsiders endured a difficult start to the proceedings. With the help of a Colm Hulton goal, Carlow built up a 1-5 to 0-0 lead ten minutes in, and despite responding with a Darragh Langan goal of their own, éanna trailed by seven points (1-9 to 1-2) at the mid-way stage.
Fine scores from Ross McGarry and Langan did raise hopes of a éanna revival upon the resumption, but a second Hulton goal reinforced the superiority of the Barrowsiders.
Eanna continued to persevere with their challenge, but even though Warren Egan, Langan and Conor Leigh added points inside the closing-quarter, the combined forces of Hulton and Shane O’Neill guided Carlow CBS towards a commanding triumph.
