gaelic games: dublin sf ‘b’ final
A STUNNING second-half fightback paid dividends for Coláiste éanna last Friday afternoon at O’Toole Park, where the Ballyroan side secured the Dublin Schools’ SF ‘B’ crown at the expense of St Declan’s College, Cabra.
Playing with the aid of a strongbreeze during the opening period, Declan’s (who included former Dublin footballer Senan Connell in their management team) played with plenty of purpose, and despite conceding a 23rd-minute goal to éanna’s Conor Leigh, a six-point haul from corner-forward Seán Caffrey helped them to build a 0-11 to 1-2 interval cushion.
However, éanna eventually made the elements count upon the resumption, and even though full-forward Brian McDonnell found the net for Declan’s on 44 minutes, the southsiders responded with an impressive 2-5 without reply (including goals from Darragh Langan and Barra McGarry) in the closing-quarter to seal a 3-10 to 1-11 success.
