Clontarf maintain play-off push with win over Terenure
Clontarf 16 Terenure College 11
Liam Og Murphy was the hero in Castle Avenue yesterday, as defending champions Clontarf maintained their play-off push with a hard-fought success over second-place Terenure College.
‘Tarf’s David Joyce and Mark O’Neill of Terenure had swapped early penalties, before a Robert Duke try moved the visiting team into the ascendancy of 25 minutes.
‘Tarf didn’t panic, though, and thanks to a brace of penalties from Joyce, they developed a slender 9-8 interval cushion. In a scrappy encounter, ‘Nure moved back in front with an expertly-converted penalty from replacement James Thornton upon the resumption, but thanks to Murphy’s five-pointer, it was the hosts who emerged with the spoils.
