Goals seal the deal for íosagáin’s girls

Niamh Ní Shiocháin and Eleanor Ní Eachthighearn were in fine form at Clanna Gael Fontenoy last Friday, when Coláiste íosagáin were crowned Dublin Schools Junior ‘A’ Camogie winners.

íosagáin had looked poised to secure a comfortable victory when they led 3-1 to 0-0 early on, but thanks to a brace of Holly Finnegan goals, Our Lady’s Templeogue were well in contention as the action resumed.

Indeed, Our Lady’s contributions from Isabelle Costello and substitute Emma Ryan set-up an intriguing conclusion, but with Ní Shiocháin and Ní Eachthighearn finishing with two goals apiece, íosagáin prevailed by 5-2 to 3-5.

It was also a close-affair in the ‘B’ Championship decider, where St MacDara’s Community College had two points to spare (2-3 to 1-4) over Dunshaughlin CC. Ellen Bowden and Niamh Gannon both found the net for the Wellington Lane outfit, and with the game in the melting pot late on, Caitríona Devlin fired over a decisive point.

Meanwhile, in the ‘C’ final, Jesus & Mary College, Goatstown overcame Mount Sackville on a scoreline of 5-3 to 3-3.

Emma Johnson contributed a brace of goals in the second period against a resilient Sackville, while Chloe McDonald also registered a hat-trick of goals for the triumphant Jesus & Mary.
