Leinster Schools Senior Hurling ‘A’ Group Team Section: Dublin North V Antrim Schools – The Evening Herald – January 15 2015

Antrim assignment is up next for Dub North hurlers

BY DAIRE WALSH

DUBLIN North will play Antrim Schools in the next round of the Leinster Schools SH ‘A’ Group Team Section, after they emerged with four points to spare (2-12 to 0-14) over Wexford Schools at the DCU Sportsgrounds last Saturday afternoon.

With defenders Darragh Gray and Conor Ryan producing excellentdisplays, Dublin North were able to gather plenty of momentum in the opening half.

Donal Burke and Matthew Oliver of Belvedere College contributed some exceptional scores, and thanks to a goal apiece from Colin Currie and Sean McCaw (who both featured for Ardscoil Rís in their magnificent Dublin Senior Hurling ‘A’ triumph last October), they brought a 2-6 to 0-9 lead into the interval.

The Slaneysiders were still very much in contention, however, and continued to cause problems after the restart. Yet, Dublin North’s slender advantage remained intact for the duration of the second period, and with Burke, Oliver and Currie all in fine form, the Metropolitans will be full of confidence heading into their clash with the Saffrons in the same venue on Saturday.
