Leinster College SHL ‘A’ 3rd Round: St Kieran’s, Kilkenny V Dublin South – The Irish Independent – November 19 2011

Prendergast and Burke hit the killer blows to propel Kieran’s

ST KIERAN’S, KILKENNY 2-17, DUBLIN SOUTH 0-7

Saturday November 19 2011

First-half goals from Ciaran Prendergast and David Burke propelled St Kieran’s past a depleted Dublin South in round three of the Leinster Colleges SH ‘A’ in Sancta Maria College yesterday.

Dublin South were missing up to a dozen first-choice players and although they were competitive early on — with fine scores by James Roche, Paul Doherty and Ben McEntee — St Kieran’s were always in control.

A terrific individual goal by Prendergast on 23 minutes was added to by points from Michael Donnelly and Chris Bolger, as well as a goal from Burke in added-time.

This gave Kieran’s a nine-point lead (2-8 to 0-5) heading into the second period, and they put the game beyond doubt by registering the first three points after the break.

Roche did pick off a nice score for the Dubs 10 minutes into the half, but Kieran’s continued to dominate.
