Glynn finds range as Belvo maintain title push
Old Belvedere 19 UCD 8
Two second-half penalties from Josh Glynn held off UCD at Anglesea Road as Old Belvedere maintained their title push with a hard-earned win.
Belvo wasted no time in breaching the opposition line with a try from winger Philip O’Dwyer after eight minutes.
The Students cancelled out this opener with an Emmet McMahon five-pointer. But even though Niall Earls split the posts at the end of the half, a second Belvo try from Jack Conan, as well Glynn’s first penalty, gave the Ballsbridge men a 13-8 interval lead.
As they aimed to remain at the summit, a strong second-half display was needed from the hosts, and even though it wasn’t a vintage performance, a further brace of place-kicks by Glynn kept the Students at bay.
