Aaron Dundon’s Newbridge College will be looking to bring a halt to Blackrock College’s quest for back-to-back Leinster Schools’ Senior Cup titles after the two sides were paired in the semi-final draw in the Leinster Rugby Branch Office yesterday morning.

Clongowes Wood will face St Andrew’s College in a mouth-watering encounter at Donnybrook on Tuesday, March 4 (4pm kick-off).

Clongowes were highly impressive during their 26-14 success over Belvedere College last Sunday, but in the wake of their 47-3 demolition of Gonzaga College on Thursday afternoon, there is no reason for Andrew’s to fear their opponents.

The expansive style of both teams means that this could be a classic tie, but before then, all eyes will be on the March 2 meeting of Blackrock and Newbridge, which also takes place in Donnybrook. Thanks to convincing victories to date over CBC Monkstown and St Michael’s College, Peter Smyth’s ‘Rock remain firm favourites for top honours, but Newbridge will believe they are capable of causing a major upset.
