SCOIL Naithi held firm to secure the Con Sean O Rinn at the end of a pulsating showdown with Scoil Treasa, Firhouse on Wednesday.

Inspired by their dynamic midfield duo of Harry Mac Eoghain and Patrick Caulwell, Naithi came from behind to squeeze past the challenge of their fellow southsiders at the home of the GAA.

Tadhg Mention and Ryan Dunne were excellent throughout for Treasa, but a second half goal blitz aided the cause of their opponents.

Squeezed in between points from Mention, Mark Keegan bagged a sixth-minute goal to give Scoil Treasa a strong platform. Naithi eventually settled into the contest and a Mac Eoghain major off a long-range free brought them roaring into contention.

He also registered a point in response to a similar effort by Rory Farrelly, before Mention contributed a green flag score of his own to guide Treasa towards a 2-3 to 1-1 interval buffer.

This ramped up the pressure on Naithi, but they delivered in spades on the resumption. Mac Eoghain and Caulwell continued to split the posts, while the latter’s delivery from deep on 32 minutes deflected to the net off a Treasa defender.

A sideline cut goal by the magnificent Dunne helped Treasa to reinforce their authority, but a resolute Naithi fired back in style. Thanks to finishes via the boots of Kevin Scineir and Aidan O Mordha, the Stonemasons Way outfit snatched a victory from the jaws of defeat.

SCORERS – Scoil Naithi: H Mac Eoghain 1-3, P Caulwell 1-2, A O Mordha, K Scineir 1-0 each. Scoil Treasa Firhouse: T Mention 1-3, R Dunne 1-2, M Keegan 1-0, R Farrelly 0-1. Scoil Naithi:

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Ryan Dunne (Scoil Treasa Firhouse).
