Old Belvedere 8
Young Munster 10
A stoppage-time penalty try, converted by Shane O’Leary, proved to be the difference between the teams at Anglesea Road.
A penalty from Josh Glynn five minutes into the contest got Belvo off to a fine start but, despite some good play from both teams, scoring opportunities were proving to be few and far between, and Belvo had to be content with a 3-0 lead at the break.
Young Munster did finally get their account up and running with a 53rd-minute place kick from Brian Haugh, but Belvo left-winger Eddie Devitt threw a spanner in the works with the first try of the day two minutes later.
And when Haugh was sent to the sin-bin with seven minutes of normal time remaining, it seemed certain that the hosts were going to seal a much-needed win.
Young Munster had other ideas, though, and a converted try at the death gave them victory.
