Dublin Senior One Football Championship Group Two Round One: St Jude’s V Na Fianna – The Tallaght Echo – July 30 2020

DUBLIN SENIOR ONE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GROUP TWO ROUND ONE

ST JUDE’S 1-10

NA FIANNA 0-8

Daire Walsh

The Coakley brothers – Niall and Brian – produced the goods at Parnell Park on Saturday evening to give St Jude’s a 1-10 to 0-8 win at the expense of Na Fianna in Group Two of the Dublin Senior One Football Championship.

The Cork siblings amassed a combined haul of 1-7 for the 2018 finalists, who were playing their first competitive game of the year. There had been little to separate the sides for the majority of the opening period but, thanks to unanswered scores from Tom Lahiff and Niall Coakley, Jude’s brought a 0-6 to 0-4 buffer into the interval.

The Templeogue outfit then increased their lead on the resumption when Niall Coakley fired powerfully to the net for the only goal of the contest. His brother Brian subsequently lifted the scoring burden off his considerable shoulders, contributing four excellent points to round off an accomplished team display from Kevin McManamon and company.
