THE introduction of Dublin minors Oisin Ó Ruairc and Colm Ó Cróinín proved decisive at the UCD Sportsground yesterday afternoon, as Coláiste Eoin made it two wins from two in the Leinster Colleges Senior Hurling ‘A’ League with an impressive 1-14 to 0-11 victory over St Kieran’s College, Kilkenny.

Despite some early scores for the Noresiders from Paddy Mullen and Jack Cotter, Eoin settled into the contest with points from Colm ó Néill, Dara ó Gallchobhair and Cian Mac Gabhann.

Indeed, as the half wore on, Eoin started to cut loose, and further efforts from ó Gallchobhair (3), ó Seanáin (2) and ó Neill, helped the Booterstown school towards a 0-9 to 0-5 lead at the interval.

Kieran’s kept in touch after the re-start with impressive scores from Mullen, Simon Rafter and Stephen Farrell, but the addition of ó Ruairc and ó Croinín paid dividends for Coláiste Eoin in the second period, and the former’s 1-1 salvo (the goal coming in the 49th minute) was enough to get them over a difficult hurdle.

Dublin South had less luck against Kilkenny opposition on Thursday, however, as they were on the receiving end of a 13-point defeat (1-20 to 0-10) to Kilkenny CBS in Palmerstown, despite the best efforts of James Roche and Diarmuid McLoughlin.

Elsewhere, Dublin North produced a much-improved display from their previous heavy loss to Coláiste Eoin, when they lost by the narrowest of margins (1-12 to 0-14) to St Peter’s, Wexford at Mobhi Road on Tuesday.
