ARDSCOIL Ris maintained their excellent start to the Dublin Schools Juvenile ‘A’ Hurling Championship with a 5-12 to 2-14 triumph over St Fintan’s HS, Sutton at Pairc Naomh Uinsionn on Monday afternoon.

Having already defeated St Benildus College in their opening game of the season, the Griffith Avenue school will hope to continue their unbeaten run later today – when they make the short journey to St Aidan’s CBS. While all four teams in the top-tier competition will ultimately progress to the knockout rounds, the defending champions are building up a head of steam.

Thanks to a brace of Tony Lonergan goals, they developed a 2-7 to 0-4 interval cushion. They were subsequently pegged back on the restart before settling into a familiar groove.

Despite the increased tempo of the Fintan’s attack, John Cleary, Conor Dolan and Eoghan Cullen largely held firm. Ben Sullivan was a powerful presence in midfield, helping Ben Gaughran, Ruairi Falls and Lonergan to prosper up front.

Ciaran Stacey proved to be the star of the second-half, grabbing a magnificent hat-trick of goals to propel Ardscoil towards a seven-point success. Fintan’scan take plenty of solace from the way they performed throughout.
