Blackrock College overcame a shaky start at Donnybrook yesterday to comfortably booked a spot in the forthcoming Leinster Schools’ Junior Cup final.
Conceding a third-minute try to Newbridge College centre Lucas Berti Newman, ‘Rock responded through Ethan Laing. The dynamic winger crossed for a second time to give the champions a 12-7 interval advantage.
While Newbridge battled hard, the second half belonged to the south Dubliners. Following touchdowns in the 40th and 43rd minutes, flanker Liam Molony completed his hat-trick in the final quarter. His back-row partner Jamie McLoughlin subsequently bagged a sixth try for ‘Rock. They will face the winners of today’s last-four encounter between St Michael’s College and Gonzaga College.
