Gonzaga College cruised into the Leinster Schools’ Junior Cup quarter-finals with a commanding triumph over Kilkenny College.
Just six minutes were gone on the clock when the Ranelagh side broke the deadlock – lock James McCarthy grounding at the end of a powerful lineout maul. Kilkenny responded with a Steffan Hillebrand penalty before Paul Wilson’s converted score eased Gonzaga into a 14-3 interval cushion.
Wilson added his second try straight from the restart. This ultimately placed the outcome beyond any doubt, though out-half David Colbert also touched down on 41 minutes to make it a most emphatic victory for Gonzaga College.
