Bergin leads way as DCU prevail in derby
DCU 2-19 Dublin IT 0-12
DCU advanced to the semi-finals with a convincing win over city rivals DIT.
Thanks in no small part to the deadball accuracy of James Bergin, the hosts entered the interval with a 1-8 to 0-6 cushion.
Donal Burke’s subsequent goal increased the gap and try as they might, DIT couldn’t rein in the challenge of Eoin Roche’s men.
Sean Morrissey pounced for a 12th-minute goal to put DCU in control.
David Herity’s visitors suffered another setback on 33 minutes, when Burke fired to the net, and they cruised home from there.
