Defending champions Blackrock College comprehensively defeated Belvedere College by 38-5 at Donnybrook yesterday to reach the last eight of the Leinster Schools Junior Cup.
‘Rock were firm favourites to prevail, but suffered a set-back when Belvo’s Odhran Dillon-Kelly broke through for an early try, but they replied with five-pointers from Paddy McCarthy and Liam Molony for a 12-5 half-time lead.
Belvo held their own initially in the second half, before Kevin Jackson gave ‘Rock a comfortable cushion. They then turned on the style, with Gus McCarthy, Jackson and Ethan Laing touching down.
